A German supermarket's response to a racist comment is going viral. It all started with this job ad featuring an image of an employee who appears to be a person of color. One customer left a comment saying, It would be better if you hired Germans without a migration background. Otherwise, my family won't shop at your store anymore. Instead of ignoring the comment, the supermarket answered publicly. In a long and sometimes sarcastic response, the company said hiring decisions are based on qualifications, friendliness, reliability, and commitment. Not where someone comes from. The Post has racked up thousands of likes and comments, mostly praising the response. The exchange comes at a time when immigration is a major political issue here in Germany. But more than one in four employees here have a migration background. And that share is even higher in some jobs the country still struggles to fill. When I reached out for comment, a spokesperson from the store told me that with so many businesses struggling to find workers here, rejecting people because of where they come from is completely detached from reality. So what do you think about the supermarket's response?
